I had to get a new harddrive.Installed last night .It said no boot sector. When I turned on. Found out I had to re-install everything . I tried all the disk that came with my 1545  inspiron notebook. Some would not install. I have it to the point of going online,But it states, that I have no network hardware.

Hi privett1961,

I believe the Network drivers are not installed properly. Please install the Network drivers from the below link and revert with the outcome.

http://dell.to/Xv1Uc2

Also check if there are any exclamation marks under the “Network adapters” in device manager and install the appropriate network driver from Dell site.

privett1961,

What virus program and firewall are you using?

Can you run Finding System Information REMOVE YOUR PRODUCT ID and REGISTERED OWNER, if using XP, run an ipconfig /all log and post it back here.

privett1961,

Because you posted in a few threads, you have me and Dell - Harish M helping you. I have joined the threads to one thread and if you click on the blue subject in your email, it will bring you back here. If you do not see a reply button, there may be one on the thread above it. It's ok to use that one.

I suggest that since Dell - Harish M started helping you, please try what Harnish posted and reply back and Dell - Harish M will reply back when they get your email.

privett1961,

Download and install in this order...

Dell System Software, v.6.5.0, A05

Intel GM45 Express Chipset Family, v.8.7.0.1007, A00

Realtek RTS5158E Card Reader, v.6.0.6000.20125, A04

Then go to Dell Warranty Status enter your service tag, click on original configuration. Look and see which wireless adapter you have installed. Then go to Drivers & Downloads enter your service tag, select your operating system and under network, download and install the drivers for your adapter.

Then download and install Dell QuickSet, v.9.6.21, A07

Places to look to see if your Connection is enabled

What happens?

Hi Privett1961,

Please reply with the exact system model of the computer.
May I know the operating system installed on your computer.
Is it a desktop or laptop?

Please share a screenshot of Device Manager.

  • Press and hold the Windows key and press 'R' key. This will open the run window
  • Type 'devmgmt.msc' without the parenthesis, click on 'Ok'
  • This will open the Device Manager window

It seems that the drivers are missing from the computer. You can download and install it from our support site. Click on the link http://dell.to/QjjZDA -> type the service tag of your computer -> choose the operating system -> expand 'Network' and download the drivers.

Please reply if you have any questions.
