new hard drive- no internet HELP!!

I recently had a new hard drive put in my Inspiron e1505 laptop. My wireless connects to the network, but when I open IE, it says not connected to the internet. I found out through Intel troubleshoot that I do not have the Intel driver installed?? I went to the dell webpage on another and downloaded all the internet drivers for my model, and unzipped them onto my computer, and still can't get online. I don't know much abou computers so I don't know what else to do!

Hi

I too have Inspiron E1505 and it's showing me the same error. I have windows vista Home Premium though. It says "Access: Local only" but in actual the connection doesn't exist. When tried to 'repair' using windows network diagnostics it doesn't help. So, right now, both wireless as well as ethernet cable connection is lost in my case.

pink9183,

After installing Windows it is absolutley essential that you install the drivers in the correct order.  For your system the Notebook System Software and the chipset drivers must be installed before even attempting to install other device drivers.  If the chipset drivers are not installed first, then Windows will not be able to properly recognize nor install drivers for many other devices.   If you didn't do this in the correct order, you can try going into Device Manager and removing the installed devices, then trying again in the correct order.  For some people this works, for most, however, they have to start all over, reinstalling Windows then installing the drivers in the correct order.
