Go to the following and message and print the instructions for clearing NVRAM on your system. Then, go into Device Manager and remove all references to the RealTek Wireless device. Shut down your computer then follow the instructions to clear NVRAM. Reboot again, cancel the New Hardware Wizard and try installing the drivers for the wireless card.
Thank you, Steve, for your prompt and comprehensible response. Unfortunately, even after I uninstalled the adapter (no longer recognized in Device Manager), shut down the system, cleared the NVRAM (heard the beep) and then installed the driver for the adapter (I still had to use the New Hardware Wizard, but told it exactly where to find the proper driver), I still have the same problem. As soon as the driver is installed the system attempts to re-boot and I get the same old "Plug and Play Compatible Error" again. After pressing F1, the re-boot completes, but the adapter is unable to find any available networks. Any other suggestions?
