New software question

I have recently reinstalled my Windows XP operating system on my Dimension 8250. Unfortunately it does not give me a driver for my internet. I have been searching and cannot find the right one. Anyway you can help me?

Go to Device Manager.  Are there any yellow exclamation points next to any devices?

I gave you the link above.  The first is the driver and the second is an optional and un-needed diagnostic.

OK. When I redownloaded my sp the first time, I had to download something off of the Dell website in order for it to work. Do you have any idea as to what it could be? I know I have an ISP because our two computers share the same and obviously I'm online right now. I know I have a modem because I've been on the internet before with the same computer(unless you have to download something to get it to run correctly). I already have Internet Explorer. So please set me straight because I'm not even in the ballpark right now.

I personally did not have to install any drivers. It did the install itself and quit. If you tell me how to check I can check for you, otherwise no.

Don't understand what you mean by needing "a driver for your internet". You need an internet service provider, a modem (internal/external), a browser (re: IE) and a search engine (re: Google/Yahoo, etc.).

You can go here and search under "Communication Drivers" for a particular modem driver for your Dell 8250.

Get Firefox!

If you mean the ethernet driver for the network port to work, this is the driver:http://support.dell.com/support/downloads/type.aspx?c=us&cs=19&l=en&s=dhs&SystemID=DIM_PNT_P4_8250&os=WW1&osl=en&deviceid=2834  Following your reinstall of Windows did you first install the chipset driver before any others?

Yes it is next to the Ethernet Connection with a big yellow question mark. You were correct. So I guess the question is which ethernet connection should I download. I appreciate all this.

I see there are two downloads on the website you sent. Which is the best?

Also, I have already done this once(second time my drive has crashed, and I remember downloading it from your website, but I can no longer find it, or did and don't know it. Thanks
