Newbee needs help
Hi there everyone:emotion-1:
I wonder if there is anyone out there who can point me in the right direction on some downloads i need.
I have a new (well wiped clean 2nd hand) laptop - dell Latitude D600 and I have got it set up with windows xp and can get on the internet by plugging my ethernet? cable directly to it but I don't seem to be able to get it connected to the wireless router. I don't seem to be able to get a signal from it altho there is another lap top in the house which works fine so its not the router that is at fault. I think i need to download some more drivers to the laptop. When I go to "my computer" and look at device manager i have the following showing with big yellow question marks and exclamation marks:
Other devices
mulitimedia audio controller
network controller
02micro smartcardbus_reader
pci modem
video controller (VGA compatible)
Please can someone tell me what links i need to install these as it seems there are so many different ones.
Or at least which ones i may need to get the wireless working. If this isn't the problem does anyone have any ideas as to why i can't connect on the wireless connection.
Many thanks in advance
Lyn

I suggest you go to http://support.dell.com/support/downloads/download.aspx?c=us&cs=04&l=en&s=bsd&fileid=107801&SystemID=LAT_PNT_PM_D600&category=0&os=WW1&osl=en&deviceid=3083&devlib=6&releaseid=R82040
and download whatever drivers you need.

you need to install drives in a particular order when you reload XP this is very very important or the OS cannot communicte with your system hardware.
Read about that order HERE
Notebook system software
Chipset #1
Chipset #2
Ethernet driver
Sound Driver
Go here for the rest
Download both of the files under the video to get your video card up and running.
If you have already try to load files you may have to either reinstall the os and then load them in the proper order, or in the case of the system software and chipset, you can try booting into safemode and installing them in Safe mode.

To expand on Dave's (accurate) post, the list of drivers for the D600 (WinXP) are:
All are available on the support site.
