NIC Not Working
All of a sudden I cannot connect to the internet. I am connecting through a wireless router that is connected to my cable modem that is hardwired to my Dell 4600. I can take the connection from the computer that won't connect and hook it up to my laptop and get on the internet so I know the connection is not the problem. I have an Intel(R) PRO/100 VE Network Connection network adapter showing in my device manager. There is no yellow exclamation mark either. Please Help!!

How are you trying to connect on the computer that will not get internet. By wireless or by Ethernet(cable)

The modem should be connected to the router, not the computer. The setup for the network should be in this order: Incoming cable connects to the modem, modem connects to the router's modem port, desktop computer connects to one of the router's ethernet ports. Then the wireless computer connects to the router wirelessly. The router acts as a splitter for your modem so both computers can connect to the Internet--one with an ethernet cable and the other wirelessly. And then you should set up network security for the wireless connection so intruders cannot use your network. Your router manufacturer's web site will have directions on how to set this up.
Edit I should add that when you tried to change things around, you broke up the network order for the desktop and it should be reset. Unplug the power from the modem and the router and turn off the the computer. Then turn on the modem first, wait 2 minutes until it's blinking correctly, then plug in the power to the router, wait again and then turn on the computer. Your desktop computer should be able to connect.

The modem is connected to the router. It has been working fine for over a year, but now all of a sudden I can’t connect to the Internet.

Also this could be from a virus program/firewall update.
Try booting into safe mode with network support. See if it will connect that way.

It could be the nic is in fact bad. Do you have two lights on the connection point where the cable plugs into the computer?
Looking into the connector on the back of the system the light on the left indicates the connection speed. the light on the right should be flashing to indicate network activity.
