No Connection After SP2
I have an 8200 with the True Moble 1180 running XP Pro. Before I updated to SP2 I was able to connect to my College wireless network automatically. Now, after the update I get a pop up bubble at boot-up saying that a wireless connection is not available and when I'm on campus the laptop sees the wireless network but I can't connect and use it. I haven't spoken to the IT department yet, I thought I would try this forum first to see if anyone has an idea as to what's going on.

You may want to try this if you can afford to do a format. Install your latest wireless network drivers first before updating to SP2.
* Or, you may just want to completely remove your wireless network drivers and reinstall them.

Thanks,
I checked Dell's drivers for this card and it seems that they only put out one driver, V.3.8.27.0 issued 10-01-02, I have this. I don't know but I suspect that it has a problem with SP2.

My parents insperion 8200 is having the exact same problem. I got it to connect once by uninstalling the wireless driver and rebooting , then unchecking the let windows manage my wireless connection box, running the driver manufacturerers utility and checking the automatically connect to non preferred netwoks box. worked fine for a day or two... now i'm back to square one again.
Dude! They bought a dell!!!

does your college require you to type in a WEP/WPA encryption Key to access the network? some wireless networks require you to type in a password before you can access them. installing SP2 may have reset the password.
try going into your wireless network connections folder, and deleting all of the saved connections. then search for new networks in your area, and when you get a list of networks back, then try to connect again. this may help as it will delete all the old garbage, and let you start fresh again. im postive nothing is wrong with your computer, or with windows xp. its simply a matter of refreshing your settings. id recommend talking to your IT department at college.
