No Internet after reinstalling windows

I had to replace a HD and reinstall Windows XP Pro after a HD crash. Windows seems to be working properly now but I can't get a connection to my modem. I'm guessing I missed a step in the set up. Is there a driver I still need to install or something else I've missed?

Thanks for the help.

Did you reinstall the Dell chipset drivers?  They are needed or some devices (e.g. audio and maybe the modem) will not show up.  The Chipset drivers are supposed to be installed right after the Operating System, however, if you didn't install them do it now and then try the devices.

How do I determine what drivers I need?

The Dell drivers that are available for your PC are on the Dell Download site.  Click on Technical Support at the top of this page, follow the instructions and enter your service tag number and then access the downloads.  If there is no device driver listed for a particular device then the drivers are the default built in Windows drivers.
