Have you checked you system for spyware and malware using more than one antispyware program?

I just have installed the os winXP incl. SP2 without FW from scratch, but since then I didn't check for spyware, because the workstation was maybe one hour on the network since setup.
Anyway I will try to figure out that point also. Thanks Steve

It sounds like your problem computer is a Dell desktop?
(Dimension?)
Be sure you CLEAR (uncheck) the box which says "Allow Windows to turn off the power" for your network adapter.
It should always be ON, full power.

Thanks for your help so far. Unfortunatly I didn't had success with the spyware program as well as unselect the energie-option on the adapter (intel Ethernet). It's really a Dell Dimension 4550 ! And with my second Dell 4600 and with the notebook I don't have any access problem. I also changed the cabling and the switch board. Everything is fine from the HW point of view I guess...
Just before I got access to internet, and all the following site I could not open again. The broser comes up imitiately with the message (on the bottom-line of the window) that the searchin process has been finshed, but the window remains empty while I'm getting replys in the Command-Box from the same (URL) page ( 11ms). DNS lookup working fine.

IPCONFIG /ALL
report the results. You can capture the text into a file by using the full:
Start | Run 'CMD'
IPCONFIG /ALL >My.txt
EXIT
Now open NOTEPAD to read the "My.txt" file where you also may COPY and then Paste here.

If the browser is not delivering the website contents then what provides you evidence that DNS is working correctly?
