no internet connection

I am trying to get a Dell Inspron Laptop reconnected to the net.

I have run Winsock fix etc to get reconnected. I have connected a
Hawking USB device to send this message and to get tall the Windows XP
updates.

Both Wireless and wireless conection fail.

Wired - shows network cable unplugged with cable plugged in. There are
no updates to Broadcom 440x 10/100 controller.
When I right click, I get options - disbale, bridge and properties. I
am running TCP/IP
How do I get the fixed?

No virus and spyware - all fixed. I have added ZA free and Avast AV.

Windows XP media center on Dell Inspiron E1505. Under network connections, I right click on wired, it says disable not enable. Wireless says the same. Wireless sees wireless network, but doesness connect. It won't even connect to an open entwork.

thanks

You still have not said what Internet Provider you are trying to connect to and how you are trying to connect. What kind of connection--Broadband DSL or Cable or plain old Dialup? Disable ZA while you are trying to connect to your provider. ZA's firewall can cause all kinds of connection trouble. Then try using the Network Connection Wizard.

The owner of the machine has Cable. I have DSL.

ZA is not issue.

Network connection has been tried. It is not an issue.

When I open up wired connection- The options are  (1) disable and (2) properties.

Wireless see the connection but it won't connect.

If I open up the broadcom manager, it has red x's for wired and wireless while device manager sees them both.

I used the restore function-Ctrl F11 to restore. It also failed. Now I think the Broadcom card is bad.

How do I replace the card?

thanks
