no internet connections

I have a message on this board, about internet connection problems. I'm kind of in a jam here, no one has responded to the message. I'm new to the site and maybe I'm not explaining my situation clear enough. I'll try to explain the best I can.
I have a Dell Dimension 2400, with a DSL/broadband internet connection. I also have a D-link airplus wireless PCI adapter.
I can use AOL and my internet explorer. I recently installed Dell musicmatch jukebox, however I am unable to use the program because it says that "an internet connection is not present". Other things have been affected by this problem as well.
I've been poking around myself, but am reluctant to try anything myself. (past intenses have not resulted good)
Does this have something to do with my firewall settings?
Does have anything to do with AOL?
Could it be the D-link?
Do I need to make the D-link an (exception) to the firewall?
I really have no clue how to fix this. Any help would be great.

Sorry not to have responded, but as soon as I see AOL in a message it stops me cold.  I have no experience with the non-standard interface that AOL provides and have no desire to ever let AOL get within a 300 light years of my computers.   I am sure that other experienced users feel the same way and have not answered for that reason.   AOL advertises that they have superb technical support.  Have you tried contacting them.  Sorry I can't be of more help.

Don't worry about, thanks anyways. It has been a long strange ride with AOL. I'm doing some research on other options.
Any recommendations?

ditto on the AOL

and you may have to make an exception in your firewall. for the network....should allready be there but might not....

If you are really familuar with how to get around the internet than any why not just use your isp and internet explorer?
You can always use outlook or outlook express to access your email and now you can keep your AOL account name even if you drop AOL...

if you have kids that use the computer then AOL might be a better option as they have somewhat better monitoring than most of the standardar isp's.....

Okay so let's see if I might be able to help.

First, from your original message I see you have DSL. Who is the ISP providing the DSL? I realize that AOL is how you access the internet but most of the time there is a local provider for the DSL service. Did you signup for the AOL broadband service?
Next, when you installed AOL did you install their Internet security package? If so, did you uninstall the one Dell provided? If not, uninstall it.
Also, have you got to www.musicmatch.com and signed up for an account? If so, are you at their web page when this message appears or have you just opened their software?
Let's start there and then see where that takes us.

The issue had to do with my Norton Anti Virus firewall, I just had to make it an exception.
