No Internet-Network Adaptor??

Hey folks..this a 911 call for Gurus!!
My Dell Inspiron Notebook had a horrible vuirus and I had to wipe off the whole system and reinstalled the XP OS using the Recovery CDS provided by Dell. This is what happened after the reinstallation:

1)The screen and fonts became horrible and ugly. I tried to adjust the resolution from 16bit to 32 or whatever it was, but I cant change that somehow.

2)To setup broadband connection,I simply followed the Internet setup wizard, but when I am clicking on IE, it gives blank page. I tried to check the LAN settings, but now I dont see anything as LAN or LOCAL AREA NETWORK. I suppose I need to 'Enable' it somewhere, but I just cant find any of those darn network controllers etc. Just blank. FYI, I also installed all the drivers as per the Utility/Resources/Drivers CD that came with the system, but just cant get to internet.

Since this notebook was also Wirelessly connected to another computer and there was Linksys Wireless G notebook adapter connected, I thought to reinstall that as well and try, but after installation it says there is No Network Adaptor found in my system. Cant understand what did I messed up and why cant I get it back through recovery CDs...? Any help or guideline will be highly appreciated. If I can hear back by SUN, then I can do something, otherwise I will be stuck up for whole week without internet. HELP HELP..!!!

after reinstalltion of the OS did you load the Drivers and Utilities disk? it sounds like your device drivers are not fully installed....
A good way to check is to go into Device Manager and see if you have any re X's or yellow ? listed..

Thank you for the response, Dave.
Absolutely...thats what I did. Installed Drivers/Utilities. However, you are absolutely right about the Xs or Yellow. I do see the Yellows for Ethernet Controller and all the Netwroking stuff. Just cant figure out how to fix it. I have a feeling that the OS installation got messed up somehow as I was confued in selecting NTFS/FAT, some option it showed on the screen. Any suggestions on Drivers/Utilities? How do I get rid of those Yellows....???

Again. thanks for your time and response.
Regards,

look at the labeling of them in device manager and go to the Dell drivers web site and download the drivers from there and try reinstalling them....
