no IP address after reinstalling windows XP

I have just reinstalled Windows XP servicepack 2 on my desktop. I have Intel Pro 100M PCI NIC card. There is one automatically set internet connectiion: 1394 Connection, connected, firewalled, 1394 Adapter. However, when exploring the status of the connection I see no Address type, no IP address, no subnet mask, no default gateway, and no details are available. When I try the Repair button I get this message: "Failed to query TCP/IP setting of the connection. Cannot proceed."
I tried ipconfig command from the command line and it returned no number. The cable internet worked before I reinstalled the system and it works with my laptop. I tried to restart the modem and the computer - did not help. I looked for a driver for the network card but Intel does not provide any for this card, apparently is supposed to be part of the Windows installation. Any advice? Thanks...

Reinstall the ChipSet driver so that the Netwrok card driver wiull work properly whihc will probably take another installation of the driver for that card.  The 1394 connection is your firewire conneciotn.

"Drivers and Downloads". Then enter your Service Tag or model number of your computer.
Select your operating system and then download the drivers that you need.

I bow in front of your wisdom... That 1394 connection did seem familiar and not right for the internet...
