No IP address assigned

Question

Dimension 4000, Win XP home, onboard NIC, AOL, Norton Internet protection. I'm not even getting a automatic private IP address assigned to my onboard NIC, link lights flash, Device manager says device is working just fine. Tried installing new supported NIC card, same issues. Can't connect to network, IPCONFIG when tried goes out to lunch and never seems to return. Any ideas ? Dell Hardware support pointed me toward software after they could not resolve it. No new software has been installed since previous working state.   Thanks ChuckOL

Try using System Restore to restore your computer to a configuration when everything worked. Steve
