no ip address/lost cable modem internet connection

I am using XP home.  I had a Motorola Surfboard 4200 installed recently by my cable company and the connection worked great for a day.  I downloaded EZ Armour firewall from the cable company, didn't like it so removed it using ADD/DELETE programs.  Ever since doing so I cannot connect to the internet because my IP shows 0.0.0.0.  The cable company level 1 guys say my machine is confiured correctly.  The modem is receiving a signal but not communicating with the computer.  I've rebooted, unplugged and replugged the modem, disabled and enabled the network card, and even reinstalled the EZ Armour software, but still no internet connection and no IP address.  Can anyone help?

Is your machine setup to receive a static or dynamic address?

Just check some bascis at www.homenethelp.com then post back.

I am using Roadrunner.  The techs tell me to check the select IP adress automatically bullet under properties for TCP/IP Address in Network Adaptors, so I'm guessing that is a dynamic IP address.
