chicken333,

Do you have both modems installed in the computer at the same time?  Here are the default Dell-installed card placements:

If you are getting dial tone, at the telephone wall jack but not at the modems, try a different RJ-11 cable that connects between the telco wall jack and the modems.  See if that fixes it.

I am having the dreaded "No Dial Tone" issue too! All of my software is fine. Sometimes it helps if I reboot, but lately that is of no help.  I have by passed the dial tone by adjusting settings and sometime sit works like a champ, then like yesterday it doesn't?  I am on dial-up obviously. My question is  is there someway of fooling the darn thing into  thinking it's DSL when it isn't then I can by pass the entire problem???  I have a Dimension 3000, 56K modem.  Thanks in advance! MY OS is  XP and I have nto made touched the inside of my PC.
