No Network Access, No Internet Access
I'm sure this problem has been posted somewhere else already, but I've spent hours (literally, hours) searching and trying to find a solution with no avail, so I'm going to post my own thread about it. I purchased a brand new Dell Inspiron N411Z about a month ago, and have been unable to connect to any unsecured wireless network. Here is a little back ground to my situation, I am in the military and purchased his computer after completing basic training. I only have the pre-installed software as well as a few computer games (World of Warcraft, Starcraft 2, and Civilization V), iTunes, Skype, and Microsoft Office 2010 installed on it. The reason I am trying to connect to an unsecured network is because it is a public network offered to soldiers on this post at a lounge type area. My computer works just fine on secure networks, as it worked perfectly at home, my friends house, the hotel I stayed at one night while traveling, and even connects to my iPhone's mobile hotspot (which is how I am online right now, but obviously that is not an effective means of connectivity.) I am housed in a temporary barracks so I do not have my own Internet yet which is why I'm trying to use this public wifi. Like I said though, I cannot connect to it. I get either 'no network access' 'no internet access' or it just is 'unable to connect.' I have tried several things, disabling IPv6, using a static IP, disabling Bonjour, everything I could find on a Microsoft or tech support forums I tried and I still cannot connect. I know it has to be a software glitch just because of the fact that it's only unsecured networks that it can't connect to. It's only been about a month since I bought the computer so I doubt it has a ton of corrupted files or something, but if someone could help me out I'd really appreciate it, as I need to be able to use the Internet and this unsecured network is my only option for he time being.
