no wireless connection

I had w/media, upgraded to vista ultimate. I have a 1390 lan card on my 9400 lap. Have Intel Core 2 1.83G, 1014 ram over a broad band dns. Have confirmed w/dell router is working. Using Netgear wpn824v2 rangemax. When I pull earthenet cable I lose internet. Have gone back and forth w/dell & microsoft for some time now; neither one has any idea on how to fix. All possible updates are current as of 3/30. Searched microsoft & dell data for anything to help, nothing seems to work! Any one else run across this one? Any suggestions on a different card? that could fix?
