No wireless internet!

Question

Hi I had a problem with my Dell Studio XPS 1640 which forced me to do a complete system re-installation. This happened fine but I can't get the wireless networking to work, although my wired internet does work. When I try to search for networks it says none can be detected because the hardware isn't working, prosumably because I havn't installed the driver. When I installed the driver (from the dell website) which I though was correct it still isn't working. Can somebody please tell me which driver it required to get the wireless internet working. Thanks

re-installation or Factory restore? makes a difference

It was a re-installation because I ran my windows disc and formatted the hard drive then installed a brand new copy.

I'm guessing you did a re-installation of your operating system.

Did you install the desktop/notebook utility and the chipset drivers first? If not, the rest of the drivers will fail to install. How to Download and Install Drivers in the Correct Order
