Not connecting to network

Question

I running windows XP and trying to set up a small office network. I selet set up office network and when it get to the page where it asks method of connection i.e does this connect to interent directly and I press next it just freezes on this page. Can any one help please.

If you open Device Manager and expand the listing for Network Adapters, does your ethernet network adapter show up there?  Are there any devices listed in Device Manager as 'Problem Devices'?  Which model computer do you have?   Steve

HI Steve   Thanks for coming back. I have checked the device manager and the network devices are working satisfactorily. I have a Dell Dimension 4300. It used to be connected to the network but this problem is only started a few weeks ago.
