Not detecting a second hard drive

Question

Hi, i bought a sata western digital 500GB caviar blue internal hard drive for one of my course in my school. I partitioned it 150 GB for windows xp professional and the rest is unused. Its working perfectly in my school using lenovo computers. But when i put this second hard drive in my Dell Xps 630i computer, it cannot detect it. When i go in the Bios i can not detect it also.When i go in My computer, i cna see an hard drive name (Q) but there is no information about the size of GB etc. I finnally manage to make my computer detect it when i take out my main hard drive and put my new one in the same Bay. In the Bios it detect it but when it loads the Windows Xp loading screen, my computer does blue screen.  MY question, how can i be able to run the partitionned xp on my computer, and how can i join the 350 other GB to my main hard drive using the win 7 operating system so i can have more place to store more games, programs...

Try entering Bios (System Setup) by pressing F2 at the Dell screen highlight Advanced>IDE\SATA Config> and "Enable" the SATA port the second drive is connected to.

I've already done this a lot of times trying to make it detect my hard drive
