Not receiving an IP address

Question

Good Evening!   I'm wondering if anyone else have seen this issue...  I just upgraded my 600m's hard drive and re-installed XP home and the rest of my software.  Now, my Intel Pro/Wireless LAN 2100 3A Mini PCI Adapter won't grab an IP address from my wireless access point.  It sees the access point, but after a minutes it assigns a 169.254 address.   I put the old hard drive back in and the wireless works fine.   I just spent about an hour with a Dell tech and we even went so far as to trying winsockXPfix.exe and taking out the PCI adapter.  Still, no valid IP address.   I have a spare Linksys PCMCIA card and this is how I'm accessing the wireless.   At this point, I'm trying to avoid re-installing XP, and I don't have a bottle of Jim Beam ready.   Anyone have any suggestions???   Thanks so much!!   Elizabeth

Does the MiniPCI wireless network card show up in Device Manager with no problems? After you reinstalled Windows, did you install the chipset drivers for your motherboard as the first device drivers installed?

After you reinstalled Windows, did you install the chipset drivers for your motherboard as the first device drivers installed?
