Optiplex G260 Ethernet Controller Driver Urgent

Hi,

I have 2 computers in the lab that are Optiplex G260. With all the viruses recently, I formatted the computer. But now I have a new problem. After formatting it won't detect the driver for the ethernet controller, USB, Video controllers and they are listed as Other Devices. I have put the drivers and utilitues CD that come with the computers still it won't detect it and asks me to connect to the internet. And we connect internet through LAN and now its like Catch 22.

Please help me!!

Here's Dell Support's list of all XP drivers for the GX260. The one that's likely causing all the problems is the Chipset driver.

Hi Jimw

Thanks for the response. I downloaded the drivers. this time I could install the audio and video drivers . But still it won't detect the ethernet controller. As you said I installed the chip set driver but it didn't help me much.

Please let me know if you have any more suggestions.

Thanks.

If you have one of the motherboard-based network adapters, I wonder whether disabling it in the BIOS, then rebooting, then enabling it in the BIOS and rebooting again would enable XP to find the device.

Which adapter do you have?
