Please help me... (Wireless Question):)

I should be getting my notebook I ordered from dell any day now. I got it to play the online computer game World of Warcraft. I chose the Wireless Networking Cards Hi-Speed: Dell Draft N Wireless because it can hook up to the wireless internet we have in my house. I was wondering tho how I go about setting that up. When I get my notebook and take it out of the box and power it on, is it going to automatically connect or do I need to do some major junk to the notebook. I am not very good at that kind of stuff so that’s why I am asking.

Thank you!

=)

Renee.... yes it should automatically detect the wireless signal (Network) and all you need to do is just hit the connect button....Provided if your home network does not have any kind of encrytption..in case if there is one then you need to put in the key and it should connect .... how ever the N draft card has some compatibilty issue with the exsisting routers and it only works to full potential with only specified routers(So watch out for that)...But not to worry coz the future of the wireless gonna be N draft cards...yes you may face some issue with the set-up initially but should be fixed in the near future...

well... N-Draft card works to their full potentail with linksys, netgear and buffalo(only specific model) with other routers it might not work to its full potential...i would recommend if you can call up dell and change the wireless card to the normal one like a Intell 2200 that should take care of it...awaiting your replay on the router model and make...

I do know you have to have a password to get into the network thing. He said he does not know the model number but I belive its a Liksys (how ever you spell it) or a Buffalo. But those should work tho right??? Is there a way around this whole thing if it does not work???

oy

Thankx for the help - jus a little stressed out now cus I thought it was the best card thing but no I am unsure... :(

Renee...... Sure u got the Best wireless card you can get in the market but then the older routers are not so supportive so thats the problem.....Anyways wait till you get the baby and then we will see how it goes.....so there is no password required to connect to the network..so wait till u get your hands on it...

Renee.... Linksys that sounds right.... but i need to know the model as well...Like i said the Future if wireless is gonna be N-Draft cards....Hey relax....ok here is what i need model number of the Linksys router that you have and ask your dad if he has set-up any kind of encryption on the network(I guess he would have to aviod any peeping tom hehehehe) .....anyways once you get the baby.... turn it on and hopefully it should auto detect the network and connect...in any case you always have Dell tech supp and they are kind enough to resolve your issues...
