It's really difficult to help you without knowing which model computer you have.  Does your dsl modem require ethernet or USB?  Have you checked in Device Manager under Network Adapters to see if you have an ethernet network adapter?  Have you looked in Network Connections to see if you have a Local Area Connection (that would be your ethernet connection)?   Who is your DSL provider?  Have they given you any help since you have paying all of that money for a DSL connection?   Yes I have a lot of questions, but since you didn't provide much information, I need some answers before I can help you.

I have to agree with Steve. Have you contacted your ISP? They would be the ones to determine if you PC needs anything to use their service. If you've had them for a while and not been using the service I would certainly call them to see if you need to upgrade anything on the PC or disconnect the service.

hi. thanx for taking the time to answer. yes i have contacted my isp. they sent me an internet card but it looks like it's a hardware part or something, it' s not external. i think i need an external. you guys suggested in another thread that they sell it in stores for about $10. i have looked i belive everywhere but they are like an internal hardware part. i would have to take my computer apart. i think it's supposed to look like a cable with a card attached to it(?) so where can i find the card that you had suggested? i really appreciate your help

You can pick up a USB NIC at most computer stores. (Radio Shack, Best Buy, Circuit City)
