Please Help No internet connection

I have a dimension 2400 running windows XP. One night I was using the computer and everything worked fine, the next night had no internet. It says the page cannot be displayed.. I have called my ISP and everything was fine on their end (I have 3 computers, 2 work just fine)

I called Dell and spent numerous hours talking to them. The conclusion, something was blocking the connection but it still hasn't been solved.

A little history. We turned off firewalls. I deleted all virus software, still nothing. We deleted and reinstalled IE, still no good. In safemode, I can connect to the internet and all pings come back fine. But still I have no internet.

Can anyone suggest a fix. I have tried everything and I don't want to format the hard drive. Backing everything up is too much work. :-(

Thanks for your help,

Julie

Hi

Have you already tried power-cycling the network?

Network Power cycle steps:

1) Power everything off. (cable/DSL modem, router, computers, etc.)
2) Wait 5 minutes...
3) Power on cable/DSL modem, wait 1-2 minutes...
4) Power on router, wait an additional 1-2 minutes...
5) Power on remaining computers or components.
6) Check for network and Internet connection.

See if that fixes the problem.

Finally after a month and numerous hours on the phone with tech support, I got it working. Here AOL parental controls were corrupt and wouldn't let me access the internet. Hum, don't ask me.... Anyway I ran the repair program and boom, I was up and running. SO if anyone is running AOL broadband, check the parental controls if you are having problems with the internet.

I didn't download anything. I went thru the start menu to AOL parental controls and they had repair as an option and I clicked it.
