You will most likely have to disable the adapter/network in the laptop now -- and then install a new one -- most come with an install CD that should be pretty self explanatory -- then you will need to configure the network settings for the new adapter with the router -- you can find the procedure in the Knowledge Base section of the website for whatever Brand of adapter you use --- just querry the KB site asking for network adapter set up procedures or something like that -- and you might as well check to see if the adapter has the latest driver installed --- Windows' Device Manager would be the best place to check that

Thanks for the comment -- it has crossed my mind to try another wireless card, but I'm not sure how to go about it. With a USB wireless adaptor, are they pretty much plug-and-play?

Thanks

Pierce

That is a strange issue indeed -- it sounds like you've trid most everything except another adapter --- maybe you have, or could borrow a USB wireless adaptor to test the issue with --- it could possibly be the original adapter is the cause and might need replaced
