please help with setting up wireless

I have the following

I have shaw cable internet and a cyber surf wave modem

I have a network everywhere cable dls router

My internet connection works perfectly with out the router, so no wireless, when I plug into the router, and follow all the instruction steps I get the message limited or no connectivity.

Whenever you change the device connected to a cable modem, you need to do a complete reset of the network.  Turn off everything, then turn on the modem first, wait about five minutes, then turn on the device that is no directly connected to the modem (router or computer), then turn on the other computers.

The following statement ou made: "My internet connection works perfectly with out the router, so no wireless, when I plug into the router, and follow all the instruction steps I get the message limited or no connectivity"  - says that you are changing the device connected to the modem.  If it works when you are plugged directly into the modem (without the router) then in order to go wireless, you have to plug the router into the modem instead of the computer.  Thus, my previous reply stands - you are changing the device connected to the modem.  If this is not the case, then you need to do a much better job of explaining all the connections.

Sorry Steve, I did not correctly understand.  My fault.

I have a cable that goes from the router to the modem, as well as another cable that goes from the docking port to the router.  It is then that I loose my connection.

I have done this by shutting everything down, and then turning everything on and it still has not worked.  I have done it step by step as the instructions indicated.  I hope that I have made more sense here, and I really appreciate your help.

volcanoe: limited or no connectivity would not occur if a good connection to the router had been established -- while there may very well be a problem between the router and modem, it is not the only one.

Saving: do you have an ethernet port on your computer that you could try plugging the router into, instead of the docking port?  your configuration would look like this:

cable modem connected to the WAN port of your router

LAN port of your router connected to your computer's ethernet port

Once you've set things up like this, power thingthing down.  Then, power the modem back up(plug it back in), power the router back up, then power your computer back up.  Once that is done, click start, click run, type cmd and press enter.  from there type IPCONFIG /ALL and then copy and paste the results here.  If you need help doing this, post back.

once we get a wired connection through the router working, we will procede to wireless and the docking station.
