PLEASE Help!!!!

I have a Dimension 3000 and for the past two days I can use my computer just fine off line but when I try to get online, the second it opens the line the system reboots. Then it sends an error message that it has just recovered from a serious error. I have tried everything that I know to do, but nothing helps. I've tried doing a system restore but it won't restore to any other day. Please help! A little more info: I received the following error messages this a.m. after I tried to get online. 1.Error code 1000007f, parameter1 00000008, parameter2 80042000, parameter3 00000000, parameter4 00000000. 2.Unable to Connect: Windows is unable to connect to the automatic updates service and therefore cannot download and install updates according to the set schedule. Windows will continue to try to establish a connection. I get a message when I start my computer from windows update that the program is too big for the memory.  I have deleted programs and tried reinstalling drivers or updating drivers.  I don't know what else to do... I haven't been able to get online at all anymore.  Please HELP!

ps. Am having to go out & use a relatives computer
