Poor or No Wireless Connection

I have a new B130 Laptop and have problems connecting with the Wireless Dell 1370 Internal card.  No problem connecting if I am sitting right next to the router.  If the laptop is moved just a few feet away from the router, the connection is either very low or won't connect at all.  Is a booster needed for this wireless card?  Any help would be greatly appreciated.  Thank You.

You might want to check to make sure the antenna wires are connected to the wireless card.  See the following document:

Reseating the card is a good option. You can also try the following options below.
1.Update the drivers from the Dell Support site.
2.Upgrade the firmware on the router if it is more than 6
months old.
3.Try to connect to a wireless network in a hotspot or a
coffee shop.
4.Try to use the card utility instead of WZC.

Hi Steve
Thanks for your suggestion on checking the antenna wires.  I tried that and made sure the wireless card was securely attached also.  I, also, downloaded the driver updates but still have very low connection.  I believe the problem is somehow with the laptop as I have tried connecting at other locations with other routers and still get very low connection.  Our router is only a couple months old.  Do you have any other suggestions on what may be wrong?  I'm getting frustrated and feel we should be getting a much stronger connection or be able to connect other than sitting right on top of the router.  Appreciate any other ideas you may have.  Thank You.

If the computer is still under warranty, call Dell Tech Support, and get them to replace the wireless card.

Thanks to both of you for responding to my questions.  Appreciate the help.  I followed both of your suggestions but with no change so I then called Dell Support and they are replacing the wireless network card.  Your knowledge is great and nice of you to share with others through this forum.  Thanks again!
