Port Com 3 - Aztech modem - Optiplex GX1.
Hi,
Had to reinstall Windows 98 second edition software originally delivered with the GX1 bought year 2000.
Had modem on port com 3 before. Now this port and PCI Aztech modem is not recognised.
Reinstalled the drivers but the PCI modem and com 3 is not recognised.
Have heard that the modem must be physically removed from the PC before reinstalling Windows 98?
Any tips on how to reach the modem?
Brgds

Then install the Driver for the modem BEFORE installing the modem.
If you disable COM2: and put the modem in its more likely that it will find the modem
and the driver will install properly.
It may also work if you boot safe mode and remove any unknown items and modems and ports
then Disable COM2:
Then reboot and re-detect the modem.
This kind of modem REQUIRES WIN98SE or higher. WIN98 non SE doesnt work with the newer
WDM driver model. If you have NON SE WIN98 you should use the WIN95 DRIVERS for the modem.
