POST test

I have a Dell Dimension 8400 Pentium4 - 3.0GHz Processor - 512MB - 40GB Hard Drive - CD Drive - Integrated 10/100/1000 Ethernet - Integrated Sound - Integrated Video with Microsoft Windows XP Home SP2

During the post test I am getting the following error:

Alert - Error initializing PCI Express Slot 1.
NIC failure
Strike F1 key to continue.  Strike F2 key for setup.

Why am I getting a NIC error for PCI Express Slot 1 if NIC is onboard?  Of course the NIC is not working.  Do I have to install a stand alone NIC now?  If so how to I get rid of the NIC alert that i am getting at POST time?

pci-eslot 1 is probably integrated.  you can press F2 and turn the onboard NIC off in the bios.  if you're under warranty, dell will replace the board.

Well PCI Express Slot 1 is actural a slot on the motherboard right next to the 3 white PCI Slots.

I did go into the setup and turn off the intergraded NIC, but I still getting the msg:

Alert - Error initializing PCI Express Slot 1.
NIC failure
Strike F1 key to continue.  Strike F2 key for setup.

sorry, that was really my only guess ... other than making sure the NIC isn't in the boot order.
