I use powerline networking for my whole house (4 desktop computers) and love it. I have Netgear equipment and they have worked flawlessly. 5 minute setup - no dropped connections or security issues to worry about. I've had it for about 2 years now and recommend it. And yes, you would need two adapters.

Will both adapters be exactly the same? The reason I ask is I looked on ebay and most of the things I've seen are USB powerline adapters. So will I need 2 usb powerline adapters? One from router and one from pc.

These are the ones I use. They are ethernet adapters. I am not familar with their USB counterparts and thus can't comment. Good luck.
