Go into mcafee and click on it and open it and then click on personel firewall plus and disable the personel firewall and then also make sure you windows firewall is disabled and then also go into printers and faxes and rgt click on ur printer and make sure your printer is online .
I've now deleted the printers from both PCs used the Add Hardware wizard to reinstall them. I still cannot print from either - I get the same message saying the computer can't communicate with the printer.
I notice PC2 is shared but PC1 is not - should both be?
What ports should I be using?
Do I have to go into the network wizard to connect them up?
Okie..here we go..first disconnect ur adapter from pc2 and then unplug the power supply from the walljack..reset the adapter by inserting a pen or pencil into "test" button on back of the printer adapter and then plug the power into the adapter..this would reset the printer adapter, then remove the printer software and adapter software from the machine and follow the steps listed in the below link..you shld be able to configure the connection.let me know if you face any difficluty will get back to you by tomorrow morning.
Yes you can uninstall the software from the pc1 too and also dont choose share a printer..choose the option for network printer and dont worry abt the ports..you dont have to choose any ports.anyways reply abck for any concerns...
I went through the re-install procedure, had a few problems but eventually got both PCs printing wirelessly.
The original set up was installed by an engineer sub contracted by Dell (the less said about him the better!!). Having gone through the process myself I think that the original problem with PC2 was that the printer adapter was also connected to the computer via usb and this may have been the reason that the printer and the PC could not communicate - after all the system was being set up to work wirelessly.
Thanks, Cancerian love for all you help - God bless you, man!!
PC1 not printing - its offline but when I try to switch it to online I get a message "Operation could not be completed". The other PC, attached to the printer adapter is ok and the wireless network is ok.
I could probably uninstall and reinstall the printer software but I don't want to do this again. Rebooting on PC2 sorted the problem on PC2 but does not work for PC1.
I really dont think it would create an issues if u uninstall and reinstall the software on pc1...and also if u can do a power cycle by turning of the adapter, printer and pc1 for a few mins..and then turn on the adapter, printer and system back on and check..it shld work fine.lemme know if u have any issues
Its just a bit of a pain. I seem to have lost the port in printer properties so it looks like I will have to reinstall the printer software. I'll do that tomorrow.
Is there a particular sequence to go through when starting up? Do I turn on the printer last or does it matter?

Do you have any firewalls that may be running and blocking communication with the printer.

Just to preface my answer - I can get on the internet from both PCs so the wireless connection is working.
Belkin ADSL Wireless Modem/Router connected to PC1 via ethernet port. Broadband phone line connected to Router.
PC2 has a USB wireless adapter connected. Dell Printer Adapter 3300 also connected to PC2.
Not sure about the secure network but I have McAfee security Centre pre-installed on both PCs. Internet working ok.
Not sure if I selected the correct ports when setting up.

Thanks for your help.
Its midnight here in Ireland so I'll try this tomorrow evening.
In the meantime, should I also uninstall the printer software from PC1?
When re-installing the printer software should I select "share printer" in each case?
What printer port do I select - there are a couple of options.
Many thanks.
