PROBLEM CONFIGURING TO THE INTERNET

(Q)  Can’t get the factory installed NIC (1) to see the internet? Nor a second  NIC (2) installed to see the internet? I can however get a USB NIC to see the internet but only if I manually configure it.

Dimension 3000, P4/3G, running XP Home

(1) Factory NIC – INTEL ® PRO/100VE NETWORK CONNE

(2) 2nd NIC – LINKSYS LN100TX (V5) FAST ETHERNET

(3) USB ETHERNET – SMC EZ CONNECT USB/ETERNET SERI

Attached to a LINKSYS ETHERFAST CABLE/DSL Router being fed by the cable modem. I have three other computers on the router working fine. So far, re-setting the modem, router and computer is to no avail. I downloaded and ran winsockfix for Windows XP and lspfix. I get the following if I don’t configure the NIC manually:

Local Area Connection
100 mbs
Limited or no connectivity

If I do configure to 192.168.1.102 (which is the same IP address as the computer this Dimension 3000 is replacing) it say’s “CONNECTED” but it doesn’t receive data.

It sounds like the chipset drivers may be corrupted.  Theye are available from the downloads section above.

Okay I tried this yesterday for another problem at work and this solved it so I'm going back to the well another time.  Delete the TCP/IP protocol and reboot and then reinstall it.  Do you know how to do this?

This worked on a machine at work where we have normal internet access but no access to the Exchange Server.  The baove procedure solved the problem, although I was skeptical at first.

Thanks,

Downloaded and installed Chipset and still couldn't get anything to come up. Tried both NICs and nothing. Replaced the USB NIC and Internet comes up fine. Any other recomendations?
