Problem getting my wireless setup

Question

I am new to wireless networking and am having a little difficulty getting my wireless network setup.  I have a Westell 6100 modem with a Netgear WGR614 wireless router.  I am able to access the Internet through the DSL modem. I then go through the wizard to connect the router.  All cables are connected correctly etc. I get the correct connection lights on the router.  The network icons in the system tray tell me that I am connected to the Internet however I cannot really access the Internet.  I realize that I may have to configure the router somewhat but am unable to login to the router to make those configuration changes.  I have called my ISP and was told that I needed to set the DSL modem VC settings to Bridge, did that but still didn't help.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

DKS50 Although you are using a netgear router the following link may apply? http://forums.speedguide.net/showthread.php?t=161887 In order to access the conf. settings for the Netgear router you need to open a browser window(Internet Explorer) and enter the following: http://192.168.0.1 this should bring up a password window. I'm not sure but, I think you enter 'admin' in the login name box and 'password' in the password box? Check the router's installation guide for correct values? Configure SSID, Mac Filtering and IP settings for all network components. After all configuration settings are complete power cycle your network in order for the settings to take effect? Power off everything. Modem, router, computers, everything?Wait 5 mins. Plug-in Westell modem. Wait 5 mins. Plug-in router. Wait another 5 mins. Power up computers. It may assist you further to download and install this network setup guide? Thanks for the information but I fianlly gave up and called Netgear support.  I got a very knowledgeable technician and he was able to walk me through the many, many, many steps to get my router and DSL working.  I am now a happy wireless user.
