Problem Hosting

Question

Couldn't decide whether this goes in gaming or here but i figured here.  Alright here it goes for the 80th time.  I don't have a router, Windows Firewall is disabled, I've opened all necessary ports and have even tried disabling Norton Firewall and Security.  No one can see/join any of the games/servers i host for any of the thousands of games i own.  The only people that can are those in my LAN.  On one game if your going to try and host a game it lets you know if you are behind a firewall or not, it said i was still behind a firewall even after turning off Norton and making sure Windows Firewall was off.  I've tried so many forums and would rather try and get a answer here before calling tech support and getting charged.  Help Please :-(.

Please tell us exactly how you are connecting to the internet and your LAN is hooked in to all of this. Perhaps with more details someone can better help you. Are you sure there are no other firewalls running on your computer? Have you tried completely uninstalling all third party firewalls.

I got a cable modem with the ISP Road Runner, and well idk if it's LAN but it's only the people that live near me that can connect to my servers, and the only ones that can see my server on the list.  Like people from farther away can't even manually connect in the games that allow it.  The only 3rd party firewall i have is Norton (the one that came with the system) and ive tried completely turning it off and still no go.  I've even tried reformating my comptuer, well not really a reformat just doing that reset thing that Dell PC's have where it resets everything to how it was when it was just out of the box. I suggest that you either post on the gaming forums where there are likely a lot more people that know and understand what you are trying to do - http://forums.us.dell.com/supportforums/board?board.id=game-gen

or the forums at www.dslreports.com. Sorry I can't be of any further help.

I tried emailing dell and they told me to call the software line where theyll charge me to MAYBE tell me how to fix it myself.........
