Problem in Network Device drivers Inspiron 5160

I have Dell Inspiron 5160 which recently had a HDD crashed. I installed a new HDD and installed OS Windows XP Home edition - I installed video drivers and chipset - Now I had no idea which drivers to installed so I installed the default listed Network drivers in the CD provided to me BUT I dont know somehow they are not visible -- ALL the network and other devices in the Device Manager have yellow Question mark along with ! and are saying Device drivers for this drivers not found - I have installed all sort of drivers from support.dell.com but still does not work -

PLEASE if someone can help on this ?

Thanks

The drivers for your integrated ethernet network controller can be downloaded from -

http://support.dell.com/support/downloads/type.aspx?c=us&cs=19&l=en&s=dhs&SystemID=INS_PNT_P4_5160&os=WW1&osl=en&deviceid=2966

If you also have a wireless network adapter, then you need to know whether it is a Dell model or an Intel Model.  With that knowledge, I can point you to the correct drivers.  (Note that it would also be useful to know which country you live in).

HI Steve

I have downloaded already installed the driver from this link but still nothing is visible in device manager - I have a Dell wireless adapter also BUT I assume I need the LAN Connectivity first -

Wireless Networking Cards Dell Wireless 1450 Internal Wireless (802.11a/b/g, 54Mbps) Mini-PCI card

as stated before I have already installed chipset drivers ----

Thanks

Are there any other devices shown in Device Manager as Problem Devices?  Did you install the chipset drivers before even attempting to install any other devices?

Try installing the chipset drivers again, then attempt to install the network drivers.  Are you sure the device listed as a 3945 isn't your 1394 adapter (Firewire port)?

Sorry The adapter is 1394 adapter and not 3945 - I have installed the chipset again and still after network driver installation I cannot see the Network adapter.

Hopefully you haven't added a lot to your new hard drive since installing Windows.   You might want to consider starting over, that is reformatting the drive, reinstalling Windows, then installing the drivers, making sure that the first drivers you install are the chipset drivers.

Sorry, I'm out of ideas.  My only guess at this point is that your network adapter is faulty.   Is your system still under warranty?  If so, it's time to call Dell Tech Support as only they can authorize replacements or repairs.

Are you doing a clean install of Windows everytime?  If so, then it appears to be something wrong with your motherboard (the ethernet adapter is integrated on the motherboard) and you can't get the wireless adapter to work (it plugs into the motherboard.  Are you sure you are installing the correct chipset drivers for your system?

Hi Steve,

I downloaded the correct chipset drivers from suppor.dell.com - How I can I confirm whether my motherboard is working fine or not?

Thanks
