The remote connection is looking for an IP Address that has changed.  I don't even see how you are making the VPN connection.

Connect via NetBios name instead.  This is more than likely a DNS issue.

Yes I know it's looking for the IP address - the business tells me that didn't change.  They did move it to a new server but supposedly nothing changed.  We are all confused as to why I can make the VPN connection and not get to the remote desktop.  Once the VPN connection appears to be made (not errors and padlock locks), I can't ping any server within the network, can't connect to any IP address they give me to try including the specific one I'm trying to connect to.  I also can't get to the internet at all which is weird.  I gave them my laptop to work with.  The IT guy was able to replicate my problem at his home, cleaned the laptop of some spyware and said he was then able to connect.  They give it back to me and I still get the same error as before.  Very frustrating as I am losing money not being able to work. Their cisco guy is out of town and as of last night they have no solutions for me.  I hoped someone may see this and offer suggestions.   My pc is running Windows XP service pack 2 - all up to date with updates.  I have DLS from AT&T with a gateway 2 wire modem/router.  My laptop runs wireless although I have the same problem on my desktop.  Both machines are DELL.  I checked the firewall on the modem and as far as I can tell nothings blocking.  I have to assume something changed from there side as it all started when they moved to the new location and changed the server.  They are not as quick to help me since I'm the only one who can't connect.  Weird....

is it possible your home network is on the same private subnet as your internal work network? that will kill VPN connectivity everytime, even if you do manage to connect.
