Do you have MAC address filtering enabled on the router? If so, have you entered the MAC address of the wireless adapter into the table of allowed MAC addresses on the router? Do you have WEP or WPA security enabled on the router? If so, temporarily disable it until you get the wireless network working, then re-enable it one step at a time.
