No sure if you have an inspiron 5150 or not, but us 5150 owners have the same
Broadcom 440x 10/100 NIC as you. I just got on this forum no more than 15 minutes ago and
I already counted (including yourself) 5 owners with exactly the same problem!!!
Doesn't take too much grey matter between the ears to figure out that the Broadcom 440x
10/100 NIC is widely defective!!!!
A couple of options:
1) get a ethernet (NIC) pcmcia card (might be the cheapest solution)
2) go wireless
