problem with installing Wi-Fi(Bluetooth) !!!

I just bouth inspiron 9300 (it's now 9400)

Reformated the harddisk.. partition it into 3..

Then I installed Winxp Pro sp1 and upagraded to sp2..

I was succesful of installing all other drivers except for Wi-Fi.. (Bluetooth)

The software is installed.. in the start menu, I got 'Bluetooth' folder under the program folders.. When I click on 'Bluetooth setting', I get a screen with a message saying 'it will take 15 mins to install' and I click on 'continue'..

the progress bar indicates about 57% progress.. then it stays there forever!!! I think when it reachs about 50%, a message to press 'Fn + F2' to turn on Wi-Fi comes up .. so I press it.. then click 'yes'.. (when I press 'Fn + F2', Wi-Fi indicator on the computer (above the keyboard) doesn't turn into green.. (it's off)

Last time I tried, I waited for 1hr 30 mins.. but still stayed at about 56%..

Help me out plz...

Wi-Fi is not Bluetooth - they are separate hardware devices on your computer with separate installations.

Try turning on Wi-Fi before you install the driver.  Are you using the latest version for your notebook?

what's the solution please?

ok, here's me doing my bit in being a responsible forum member. i've identified the problem (or rather the dell engineer who came to look at my inspiron 6000 has) -- although my laptop was ordered with bluetooth, the little piece of hardware (about the size of a typical RFID tag) is physically missing! the dell engineer called up their service dept and they asked if i removed it. i said no, then they said i must pay if i want the hardware installed. i don't believe it's expensive, but i refused on principle. they're going to refer my case higher up. grrr... anyone else had experience with this?

i will start a new post on the appropriate part of this forum

I'm still trying to install Bluetooth. Still got stuck on fifty percent something..

I downloaded the latest drivers from the dell site and used it...  also from CD as well.

It just won't install it.. !!!

what i was trying to say was that, when i had the problem of getting stuck at 56%, it was because my computer had the installation software for BT but couldn't get beyond 56% because it was missing the hardware, i.e. the BT device itself! you should look to see whether your BT device is missing (or perhaps unplugged?) from your inspiron. hope that helps
