Problem with 'network controller' after format
after i formatted i have this one device driver called network controller that won't go away, hence me not being able to use a network cable,.
I don't have the dell driver cd that came with this 300m laptop and i've tried just about all the network related drivers for this model on the dell download site....any ideas?

Did you reinstall the Intel Mobile Chipset drivers for your 300m before installing any other drivers? Integrated devices won't be recognized until the chipset drivers are installed. That's why they're listed as one of the first drivers after the OS reinstall itself in many of Dell's XP reinstall guides, such as this one for the 300m. Note the 300m is an exception to the usual listed order - the Notebook System Software is listed before the Intel Chipset. Check the list, and make sure you've carried driver reinstallation out in the recommended order.

Did you also try the "Notebook System Software", which is oddly listed ahead of the chipset drivers? Other than what's in the reinstall guide, I don't have any specific information on that model.
