I've got a Dell Precision M90 with the same problem.

The odd thing is that when I first got my laptop, I used it with the onboard Ethernet.  But after using the docking station, it no longer works.

I've tried every combination of powering off/on, network cable connection, multiple networks, etc.  The hardware seems to be working because the switch negotiates properly while the unit is powering on, but once it gets into the windows login, the onboard ethernet completely shuts off.

In the device manager, when it is not on the docking station, there is no Ethernet driver.  Having the system scan for new hardware also doesn't find the ethernet driver.
