Problem with Wireless Connection After Installing XP Pro
Hi
I recently installed Windows XP Professional on my Inspiron 5150 as an upgrade to XP Home. Before the installation, my wireless internet worked fine. After the installation, it does not detect any wireless networks.
I have a Dell TrueMobile 1300 WLAN Mini-PCI Card
I ran the diagnostic test in the TrueMobile 1300 Client Utility in the Control Panel, and it came back with a memory test failed - microcode memory test failed
I know this must be a problem with the installation of XP Pro, but I don't know how to solve this problem. The drivers are all installed.
If you can shed any light on this problem, I would really appreciate it.
thanks in advance,
Jon

Speculative suggestion based on issues I have seen reported with regular applicaiton upgrades on Win2000/XP.
The apps tend to need access rights to the registry entries and are not always set up. Given that one of the major differences between Home and Pro (as I understand it) is access level security it may be worth checking ... especially iof you don't relish the idea of a clean install.
The downside of the suggestion, apart from it being a bit of a guess, is that I have no idea how many places you need to check within the registry or externally.
I do have an ad-hoc wireless net mixing a new sp XP Pro system with an older XP sp ? system and an XP Home sp ? (but not 2!) with a couple of Win 98 SE systems as well. It works OK but the apparent visible availability of links can be erratic. (To say the least). However the links work even when you can't see them.
I have not attempted the Home to Pro upgrade and don't really intend to for my purposes. So feel free to ignore the suggestions above. :-)
