Nikhil, Thanks for responding. It did not work. Since I did not have Wi-Di visible on my computer, I downloaded the application  you sent me.  It told me the platform was not compatible with Intel Wi-Di or the application is in use. Please see the log for more details. Your system has not been modified...........  My computer component says is has a

Hard Drive, 1T, S2, 5.4, 2.5, P11, 4K, ML500M

Card, Wireless, INTEL2230, World Wide

FYHV1

2

Dual In-Line Memory Module, 4GB, 1600MHZ, 512X64, 8K,  204

I had been advised that this wireless card WOULD work with Wi-Di. Did Dell advise me wrongly? Do I return the computer because it will not do what I want? I also bought a Netgear Push2TV adapter and I can't install it because the Wi-Di is missing..   Any ideas now? The computer is useless to me without the right wireless card or manner of fixing it.

Hi Vinnie02895,

I would like to know if the system has a 3D graphics. Because Inspiron 17 R 7720 with 3D will not support Intel WiDi as these systems will have Intel HD Graphics disabled.

Please reply for further help.

Yes, it has 3D Graphics. Anything I can do about it? Can I use another brand of adapter instead of Netgear ?

Thanks for your help.

Nikhil, Can I change the Graphics card so that the wireless will work? If so, which would you suggest? Can I buy it from Dell?  If so, how much would it cost?

Hi Vinnie Ward,

WIDI will only work with Intel HD Graphics and Netgear Push2TV adapter on Inspiron 17R SE 7720.

As this computer has 3D display WIDI would not work.

You may have already answered the question in your brief response, so pardon me please. Does this mean NOTHING can be done to change the graphics card because the display is different?  I don't understand why the display matters, as I would think the Graphics card would be more important, but heck, I don't know.  If you had this computer, and wanted to do what I wanted it to do, would you try to return it for the one you want, or try to change something in the computer you have, or would you realize there is nothing you can do and forget about the Wi-Di and return the Push2TV adapter?  Thanks for you assistance.  Vinnie

Hi Vinnie Ward,

Since you have stated that WIDI was your priority, and as this computer does not serve your purpose, you may choose to return the computer if it is within the return period of 21 days,

Once you have returned this computer, you can order a non 3D computer that supports WIDI. Else return the Push2TV adapter.
