I would suggest you to check if the Internet is working in the Safe mode. Please follow the steps mentioned below to start the computer into the safe mode and test Internet.
1. Restart the computer. 2. As the computer boots, press when the Dell Splash Screen appears. 3. Scroll down to option ‘Safe mode with networking’ and Click on ‘Enter’ button. 4. This will boot you into the safe mode. 5. Please check if Internet is working by opening a Internet browser.
Also, Please check if any other known good computer is able to go online.
Hi Tesla, I connected my computer with Ethernet wire instead of wireless, but it's still doing the same thing. I'm able to connect to the internet, but my network is showing I'm not connected.
You can get on the Internet, so you know your TWC RoadRunner is working, good.
You have 2 separate network connection devices in your laptop, wired and wireless. They have separate icons that appear in TaskTray. Since only ONE can be truly connected at a time, the other one will show Disconnected. One looks like a Monitor, the other 5-Bars (like a cellphone).
You can get a better view of what is going on at Control Panel/ Network & Sharing Center.
Hi Tesla, yes I know that I have separate network connections. I tried it wired, and the one that looks like a monitor showed up. No problem, it's just since the network is setup wireless, we use our service wireless. Even though my internet is working, it's not connecting to my wireless network. Since I'm a musician, it's not allowing me to connect with Cubase. Very strange problem. BTW, I wanted to post a pic to show the problem I'm having, but upon uploading the pic, and pressing save, it doesn't want to finish the save. What a headache...
Hi Ravi, ok, I tried your suggesting, and yes, the internet worked in safe mode. My other computer is working fine. It connects to the internet & connects to my network. It's only my Dell Inspiron. PS. I tried uploading a photo to show the problem I'm having, but it never saved.
I see that the Internet is working in safemode so there is application blocking the Internet. I would suggest you to disable the firewall on the system first to check if the Internet works.
Also, we need to check if the issue is caused due to any application installed on the system. So please cleanboot the system using the link below and check if the issue reoccurs.
Just tried what you suggested, and nothing. Still able to connect to internet, but still stating that I'm not connected to my network. How about if I just go ahead and reset the computer to it's original settings. Would that solve my problem?? Also, now I'm having problem with AMD HDMI Output. When I connect my pc to my HDTV's (JVC/Samsung) using an HDMI cable, I'm able to get video, but no sound is coming out of the TV. I've already tried uninstalling/installing the driver, and disable/enable as well, but nothing. Another pain :(
I would suggest you to restore the system to factor state and check for issue resolution. Restoring the system to factory state will erase all your personal data. Please follow the steps mentioned below for performing the pc restore on a Windows 7 computer.
Back up all the data from the computer before proceeding to next steps.
Unplug all the devices including your printer, camera and memory stick.
Restart the computer.
Press the "F8" key repeatedly as soon as you see the Dell logo. Do not stop until you see the Advanced Boot Options screen.
Press the down arrow and choose "Repair your computer." Hit "Enter."
Select the keyboard layout "US" from the drop-down menu and click "OK."
Log into your account as an administrator. Type in your password. Click "OK."
Click "Dell Factory Image Restore" at the bottom of the options.
Click "Next" in the window that opens.
Click to check the box next to "Yes, reformat hard drive and restore system software to factory condition" to confirm and click "Next." This will generate an operation that will take about 45 minutes to complete. Click "Finish" when the process is complete to restart your computer.

Disconnect from Wireless AccessPoint . Temporarily, Turn off wireless radio in computer.
Connect computer to router (or gateway) with a real ethernet wire. See if that works first.
