Problems connecting

I've got the exact same problem.  I have other devices connected to my wireless no problem but every time I shut my laptop down it won't reconnect to the wireless when restarted.  The technician tried to charge me as he said it was a problem with my registry being too full and blocking access to the ports which I think is rubbish.  Be interested to hear what others say.

Julia187,

You should only use one virus program. The two virus programs will conflict with each other.

If you decide to remove McAfee, then use the McAfee Removal Tool and restart your computer. Avast FREE or paid version will be able to protect your computer. Using the free version(no trial version) of Malwarebytes Anti-Malware weekly, will help with other malware issues.

If you decide to remove McAfee, see if you can connect. I have seen connection problems cause by McAfee.

Julia187,

Thread was split.

Also try these tweaks...

Go to Drivers & Downloads enter your service tag number, then select your operating system. Under Network, download and install the latest drivers.

Try these tweaks....

Start, control panel, device manager. Click on Network and then right click on your wireless adapter, left click properties, power management. Uncheck the box, allow computer to turn off this device to save power.

Click on advanced. Some adapters have antenna diversity and some don't. If your adapter has antenna diversity, change it from Auto to Aux.

Go to the power options, and changed the Wireless Adapter Setting, from Maximum Power Setting to Maximum Performance.

Julia187,

Glad you got it working! :emotion-21: Thanks for posting back.

I will wait for jules8284 to respond, meanwhile, since your problem was solved, I will split this thread to put your replies and the solution in a separate thread.

Thank you Rick.  I've removed McAfee and it restarted and connected to the wireless straight away.  I had a feeling it might be this causing the problem as I'm sure it was after an update that this problem started.  I'm ok with computers but didn't realise you shouldn't run two programs, lesson learnt!!

Jules - sorry to hijack your thread, I hope this helps you too.

Thanks for your help, fingers crossed this continues to work.
