Do you have NoScript as an add-on with Mozilla Firefox? If so, you have to allow scripting for paypal.com and paypalobjects.com. You should then be able to log in with the correct email address and password.
Right click on the S at the bottom of the page, left click allow paypal.com, then do the same again for paypalobject.com. Make them permanent and you don't have to do this the next time you log in.
Thank you very much for your prompt reply. I have been successful logging in to Paypal but on my sister`s computer which has a wireless connection. I don`t have one on this old dinosaur of a laptop so obviously that is what is causing the problem, although I don`t see what difference it makes whether I am trying to log on via the ethernet cable or otherwise! I am also not very au fait with `add ons` but had a go as per your instructions today. Unfortunately, I couldn`t even find the `S` at the bottom of the page as the rest of my Mozilla Homepage is blank underneath the search box.

I actually used CCleaner yesterday but hasn`t made a lot of difference to performance. I have also been in touch with Paypal who reckon it was a password problem and recommended me to change it but as I couldn`t even log on to Paypal that information was a tad useless!

Maybe you should try deteling all your problem cookies and start over. CCleaner will help you do that. I can log into Paypal without any problems.
Did you try PayPal Customer Support at 1-888-221-1161 ? They were very helpful with me when I had problems.
