Pretty hard to comprehend what "everything" means, without specifics as to what you have already tried? Was this the original problem that the customer wanted you to fix?
It actually came in for hard drive problems. We replaced hdd and reinstalled win xp home without their discs. I downloaded what I thought was all drivers needed. I installed the chipset first then the others and the ethernet and network controllers came up with a yellow ? in other devices.
I have realtek RTL8139/810x family fast ethernet nic under network adaptors.
Tried connecting to ethernet spot and no operation from it.
I did exactaly what you suggested and am still having problems with network drivers. Should I statr from scratch ie: wipe systom out and reinstall xp and all drivers?
Yes, I would suggest that if you
didnot install the drivers in their proper order previously, to reformat the HD and reinstall everything in proper sequence, again.
What are you presently showing for ethernet controller under the Device Manager?
I've referred to the Dell website for drivers for your laptop and all I can find are Broadcom manufactured drivers? Where did you get the Realtek drivers?
Ethernet controller is shown in other devices as is the network controller. It does not show what type the controller is for. As for the realteck, that is for the plugin adaptor I am using to get on line with.
I did what you first suggested, only saw the realteck. Went to the website you mentioned and ran the advisor. It found a lot of things on this machine but no network drivers, cards, etc: cept the realteck
Okay, that information would have helped a number of posts ago. Look on the bottom of the laptop for a service tag #. The go to
here and enter the service tag # then select the original system configuration to see if the network adapter is listed?
If that doesn't work, go to the following link
www.belarc.com and download/install the Belarc Advisor program. Run the program and look to see if it lists the network controller on the 600m? That may be able to tell you what network driver you need to install from the website.
